Island trip to Magaruque

Embark on a stunning island journey to a beautiful cove on the island of Magaruque and swim inside the safety of the reef. An additional introductory dive is available for first time enthusiasts.

Whale Watching & Snorkeling

Head straight into the deep water with our big rib, after a few hours of whale watching we will take you snorkeling on the shallow side of 2 Mile Reef. Our last stop is a meal on the south point of Bazaruto before headed home.

What can you expect from our Sandbank Safari?

Departing from Vilanculos, we take you on an excursion to the inner sand banks of the Archipelago that are protected by the islands, we will of course setup shade and provide snacks and refreshments.
We offer this package for $55 per person.

You will be leaving from South Beach at around 8am (depending on the tides), of course you can always check any details or make special arrangements when you have booked.

Stunning scenery on the way

While travelling to and between the islands you will be able to enjoy the incredible colours from our beautiful waters and learn a little more about this beautiful place from our guide.

While on the Sandbanks

Once on the sand bank we will setup shade, tables and chairs to relax and enjoy the amazing views of all of the nature around while also serving some sandwiches and cooldrinks as a rest before we carry on.
You may also choose go for a swim or take selfies in this incredible environment.

What's so special about these sand banks?

Each sandbank holds it's own beautiful secrets and many have a few secret shell gardens that only grow on specific sand banks. Many of these sand banks are also actually covered in different types of shells and therefore create a unique and pleasant sensation when walking on them.
These sand banks also serve as the first home for many of the shells & starfish that grow in the Archipelago and you will likely see a few new shell forming or encounter our amazing panzie shells if you just walk along the shoreline.

After we have shown you some of the amazing sandbanks we will let you know that it's time to take some last amazing selfies before we head back to main land in the mid afternoon.

From our Red dunes safari we offer a wonderful World View of not only the sand banks and the inner Archipelago but also direct sight to 4 out of 5 islands in the Bazaruto Archipelago (the best spot in the area) as well as an overview of the city of Vilanculos skyline that is a over-shadowed by the spectacular stars in the night sky above (we are blessed with nearly no light pollution)

Embark on an amazing island trip to Magaruque

One our most popular trips is the island excursion on our traditional dhow to the 2nd island of Magaruque located inside the Bazaruto Archipelago opposite Vilanculos. This trip comes all inclusive with the very reasonable cost of $90 per person.

However if you are up for it we also offer a discovery scuba dive for anyone looking to learn how to dive for the first time for the incredible price of $140 per person.

The Voyage

Departing in the mid morning from Vilanculos South Bay we take you in our traditional Sailing Dhow through the beautiful sandbanks and emerald waters to the beautiful white sand shores of Magaruque, the trip usually takes 1-2 hours each way depending on the winds, alternatively we can use our outboard engine in-case the wind is not in our favour.

Inside the National Park

Once we enter inside the national park we will have to follow special regulations to preserve the natural habitat and tranquillity of our amazing park, this not only means you will encounter beautiful clean beaches with lovely marine life but also restrictions such as regulations forbidding drone usage.

Once on the island

Upon arriving we will setup a rest area inside the cove of a wonderful reef where you are encouraged to swim and snorkel as the brings out lunch on the beach,

If you have opted into the Discovery Scuba Drive then this will be the natural pool you start your first dive, a full theory course will be done before departure the dive.

The Reef

Just off the wonderful white beaches you will encounter a reef that we encourage you to explore, the wonderful marine life is certainly exciting, especially if you can find the more active spots, please be mindful not to touch anything as it will harm the wildlife of the habitat, please see our social media pages to see more.

Discovery Scuba Dive

Have you ever wondered what it's like to scuba dive but aren't sure if it's for you? Nothing simpler, just book your introductory dive with us. This is a full day sea activity, we will departure in the morning heading to beautiful Magaruque Island where we going to introduce you to underwater world, one hour of theory then a very safe and calm dive from the beach with no currents only colourful fish.
$140 per person all inclusive, park-fees, water, sandwiches & equipment.

Head to the deeper waters with us to go whale watching and then onto our breath taking 2 mile reef for a peaceful snorkel and finally see the sights from the largest dune on the south point of Bazaruto before returning.

$130 per person for a minimum group of 3 people, $100 per person for a group larger than 3 people.

Leaving from any lodge on the beach inside Vilanculos or from our facility in south beach, we will board our new rib and head into the deeper waters of the Mozambique channel to do some whale watching in the early and mid morning.

Inside the National Park

We will take you through the National Park to head into the deep water and then return back into Park waters for the snorkelling and of course we will be inside the park on the south point of Bazaruto. This means that we will be enjoying some of the cleanest beaches in the world filled with all sorts of wildlife such as rays, turtles and sometimes we even see Dugongs off the south point of Bazaruto Island. This of course means we will have to obey park rules such as no touching the corals or use of drones.

Snorkelling at 2 Mile Reef

Come see the breathe taking waters of 2 mile reef, this shallow reef protected by rocks and islands is a beautiful coral garden filled with life such as turtles, rays, various colourful fish including parrot fish and of course a range of eels and octopus, but by far the most fascinating is the incredible coral formations.

Sight seeing on the south point of Bazaruto Island

After snorkelling we will take you to enjoy a panoramic view of the Archipelago from the highest sand dune in the Archipelago, located on the South point of the island. This is a stunning view of the Archipelago and the beautiful islands.
